What is VEVO?

VEVO is the official online service for checking current Australian visa details and conditions. Visa holders can use it to view their records and send evidence of their visa conditions to employers, landlords or other organisations.

It is useful for checking an existing visa. It is not a tracker for an application awaiting a decision.

How to check your Australian visa online

What should you check before travelling?

Read your visa grant notice and current visa record carefully. Check:

• Visa subclass: the type of visa you hold.
• Entry deadline: any date by which you must enter Australia.
• Length of stay: how long you may remain and how that period is calculated.
• Entries: whether one entry or multiple entries are permitted.
• Conditions: restrictions relating to work, study or further applications.

Renewed your passport? Update your Australian visa record

If you obtain a new passport, notify Home Affairs so it can be linked to your existing visa or application. Do not assume this happens automatically when your passport is renewed.

Where the application is accessible in ImmiAccount:

1. Log in and select your application.
2. Open the application details.
3. Select Update details.
4. Select Change of passport details.
5. Choose the applicant and enter the new passport details.
6. Enter the reason for the change and submit the update.

Some passport changes require the separate Home Affairs web form. Check the official instructions and allow time for the update before travelling.

ETA exception: if you hold an Electronic Travel Authority, subclass 601, you must apply for a new ETA when you obtain a new passport. An existing ETA cannot be transferred.

Check your entries before trying again. Make sure the passport and reference details match the documents linked to your visa.

• Check for typing errors in your personal and passport details.
• Make sure you selected the correct reference type.
• If you have a new passport, check whether its details have been updated.
• Use the assistance options on the Home Affairs website if the problem continues.

A failed search alone does not prove that your visa has been refused or cancelled. Resolve the record issue before drawing conclusions about your visa status.

Australian visa stickers and electronic records

You may remember Australian visas being placed in passports as printed labels. Australian visas are now recorded electronically, and an old visa sticker should not be used as evidence of your current visa status.
