Australia’s visa label policy

Australian Immigration does not require holders of Australian visas to have a visa label. Visa holders can travel to and reside in Australia without a visa label in their passport. Developments within Australia’s Immigration (DIAC) electronic systems mean many of the department’s services no longer involve the physical exchange of paper documentation.Whether its a partner visa to Australia for your Thai wife or girlfriend everybody should be aware of Australian visa labels policy. Electronic visa record

Australian visa Thailand are issued and recorded electronically. All visa records are stored on a central database in Australia which enables online checking of visa details by visa holders, registered Australian organizations and airline staff. Any visa issued is linked to an applicant’s passport through its unique passport number.

Australian Visa notification

When you receive your Australian visa you are issued with a visa grant notification letter that explains the conditions of the visa, including the period of validity and entry requirements. The grant notice should be retained for ease of reference and it should be carried with the passport as it contains important information about the visa. The information contained within the visa grant notification letter will check the visa status online using the department’s Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) system.

New passports – Australian Visa Thailand

If an applicant has been issued with a new passport since the Australian visa was granted, the applicant must notify Australia Immigration (DIAC) of the change of passport details to ensure all records are up-to-date. The visa details are linked to the passport. Failure to update the passport details will result in delays when traveling to Australia.

Checking the visa status online using VEVO

Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) is a secure and free service available anywhere, anytime.

VEVO allows the visa holder to check the visa details online and provides more information about the visa conditions and entitlements than a visa label. Information provided in VEVO includes:

  • The visa type
  • visa grant and expiry date
  • period of stay
  • visa grant number
  • entries allowed
  • All conditions that apply to the visa.

.Accessing VEVO is a two-step process.

For the first step, the visa holder will need to enter one of the following:

  • Transaction Reference Number (TRN) –if you applied for your visa online
  • Visa Grant Number – you can find this on the visa grant notification letter
  • Visa Evidence Number – you can find this on the existing visa label, if you have one
  • Password – if you are in Australia contact 131 881 for a password to be created.

To finish, you must provide all of the following in the second part of the login process:

  • your date of birth
  • your passport number
  • Country of passport.

Using VEVO is a secure and effective method to check the current status of your visa.

Visa evidence charge – still want a label?

The Australian Government does not require a visa holder to have a visa label in a passport to travel to, enter or remain in Australia. It is Australian Government policy to charge for visa labels. The charge for a visa label is AUD150.

You can request and pay for a visa label if you have a current Australian visa.
