Can you legally marry in the UK?
Yes, a Thai national can legally marry in the UK if the correct immigration route is used and the couple meets the marriage-notice and venue requirements. The marriage must take place at a venue licensed for that purpose.
Which visa may be needed?
Fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner route
If your Thai partner plans to marry you in the UK and then live with you in the UK, the fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner route may be appropriate. GOV.UK states that you must prove you plan to marry or enter into a civil partnership within 6 months of arriving in the UK.
Marriage Visitor visa
If your Thai partner wants to marry or give notice of marriage in the UK but does not intend to stay or settle in the UK afterwards, a Marriage Visitor visa may be the correct route.

- Both partners are 18 or over.
- The relationship is genuine and continuing.

After the wedding
After the marriage or civil partnership, the applicant normally needs to apply to extend their stay in the UK as a spouse or civil partner if they intend to remain in the UK long term.
