If you and your Thai are regular visitors to the UK, then you may have some concerns about any limits that may be in place regarding the number of UK Tourist Visas that she can have. Sadly, there is no written rule regarding the number of visas that she is allowed. However, the British Embassy in Bangkok does try to be as transparent as possible and has some guidelines that they, unofficially, follow.
How long is a UK Tourist Visa valid for?
A UK Tourist Visa usually is valid for twelve months although your Thai girlfriend will only be able to spend a maximum of six months in the UK during that period. She would reasonably be expected to return to Thailand after her visit.
What can’t she do on a UK Tourist Visa?
Your Thai girlfriend will not be able to:
- Participate in work either paid or unpaid
- Have access to government funds
- Live permanently in the UK
Will increased visits to the UK give her a better chance of getting a new visa?
If your Thai girlfriend wishes to spend six months in the UK and six months in Thailand on an ongoing basis, then you can apply for the following :
If you need to visit the UK regularly over a longer period, you can apply for a long-term Standard Visitor visa that lasts 2, 5, or 10 years. You can stay for a maximum of 6 months on each visit. The British Embassy in Bangkok has no intention of stopping people who abide by the rules from visiting the UK. If your girlfriend has proven that she will consistently stick to rules, then she will be welcomed into the UK
