Has your girlfriend’s UK visa been refused?

Send us the refusal letter before submitting another application. We can review the reasons and help you decide what to do next.

There is usually no set waiting period before reapplying after a UK Standard Visitor visa refusal. But applying again immediately with the same information is unlikely to solve the problem. First, read the decision letter carefully and work out whether the refusal points to missing evidence, an inconsistency, a change you need to explain or a possible error in the decision.

When can she apply again?

Your Thai girlfriend can generally make a fresh visitor visa application after receiving a refusal. She does not normally have to wait six months or a year simply because a previous application was refused.

The better question is when will a new application be ready? If the reason for refusal has not been addressed, a second application may lead to the same result. The right timing depends on the precise wording of the refusal and whether you can provide a clearer explanation or relevant new evidence.

Start with the refusal letter

Do not assume the refusal was simply because she has no job, does not own property or has insufficient money in her own account. Read the actual reasons. A decision maker may have questioned the source of funds, the proposed length of the visit, her circumstances in Thailand, the sponsor’s evidence or differences between the application form and the documents.

Questions to ask before reapplying

  • What exact concerns did the decision maker identify?
  • Were important documents missing or overlooked?
  • Did the form and supporting evidence give different answers?
  • Were deposits, income or expenses left unexplained?
  • Was the proposed visit realistic for her circumstances?
  • Has anything changed since the first application?

Keep a copy of the full refusal letter and the previous application. You need to know what UKVI was told the first time before deciding how to explain the case in a second application.

What should change in a new application?

A reapplication should address the refusal points directly. That does not always mean waiting until your girlfriend gets a job or buys property. It may mean explaining an existing situation more clearly and providing evidence that was missing from the first application.

Review the previous form. Check the stated income, employment, travel history, visit dates, relationship details and who was paying for the trip.

Answer each refusal concern. Explain the point in plain language and provide relevant documents where they are available.

Show a credible visit plan. The length and cost of the visit should make sense alongside her circumstances in Thailand.

Disclose the earlier refusal. Give accurate details of previous UK and other visa refusals when the application asks for them.

The sponsor can provide accommodation and financial support, but strong sponsor documents do not replace an explanation of the applicant’s own circumstances and intention to leave the UK after the visit.

Can she reapply with the same documents?

Sometimes a refusal is based on a misunderstanding, and existing documents may be relevant to correcting it. Even then, sending the same bundle again without explaining the concern gives the new decision maker little reason to reach a different conclusion.

Do not manufacture a change in circumstances. False employment letters, altered bank statements or misleading explanations can cause much more serious problems than an ordinary visitor visa refusal.

Should we challenge the refusal instead?

Most Standard Visitor visa refusals do not carry a routine right of appeal or administrative review. Check the decision letter for the rights, if any, that apply to your particular case. Where there is a significant legal or factual error, a challenge may be worth assessing; it is not automatically the best route for every refusal. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}

A complaint is not a substitute for a fresh application or a legal challenge. If an important event is approaching, the practical timing of each option also matters.

What if she has been refused more than once?

Multiple refusals do not, by themselves, mean she can never obtain a UK visitor visa. They do mean the complete application history needs careful review. Compare the reasons given in each letter, check for inconsistencies between applications and avoid adding documents without a clear purpose.

If the refusal mentions false information, deception, a criminal matter or a previous immigration breach, obtain individual advice before reapplying. Those issues require more than a standard visitor visa checklist.

How Thai Visa Express can help

We can review your girlfriend’s refusal letter, previous application and supporting documents, then explain the realistic options. If a fresh application is appropriate, we help prepare a clear response to the refusal points and organise evidence from both the applicant and sponsor. No visa outcome can be guaranteed.
