UK visa supporting documents are normally submitted digitally. After completing the UKVI application online, applicants in Thailand can upload their documents through the VFS Global appointment system. If they do not upload them themselves, they can use VFS Global’s Document Upload Assistance service and bring the documents to their visa application centre appointment.
Follow the instructions in your own UKVI application and VFS appointment confirmation. The process and available services can vary by visa route and may change.
Option 1: Upload your UK visa documents yourself
After submitting the online visa application and accessing the VFS Global appointment system, you can upload clear digital copies of your supporting documents under the relevant document categories. Check that every page is legible, complete and correctly oriented.
Before your appointment, review the uploaded files against your document checklist. Make sure you have included both sides of any document where relevant and that the files support the information entered on the application form. Save the upload confirmation and follow the deadline shown in your VFS account.
Option 2: Use VFS Document Upload Assistance
If you have not uploaded your supporting documents online, VFS Global says you must purchase its Document Upload Assistance service and bring the documents to the visa application centre. Check the current price and instructions in your appointment account before attending.
Organise the documents in advance and make sure they are complete and readable. The scanning or upload service handles submission of the files; it does not assess whether the documents are sufficient for the visa you have applied for.
What happens at the biometric appointment?
The applicant normally attends the visa application centre to provide fingerprints and a photograph. Take the passport, appointment confirmation and any documents specified in the current VFS instructions. Do not assume that bringing a paper bundle to biometrics means it will automatically be uploaded.
UKVI’s published processing time normally starts when the applicant has proved their identity and completed the required document process, including attendance at the visa application centre where applicable.
Check the documents before submission
- Use the checklist for the specific visa route, rather than an old generic list.
- Check that names, dates, income and other details agree with the application form.
- Upload complete documents with all relevant pages visible.
- Provide translations for relevant documents that are not in English or Welsh, where required.
- Keep copies of the files, appointment confirmation and application reference.
- Review any previous refusal and address the points raised before submitting a new application.
