💡 Why the Increase?
These proposed adjustments aim to ensure that the revenue generated from passport applications reflects the actual costs of:
Producing and delivering passports
Providing consular support abroad (e.g., for lost or stolen passports)
Managing UK border operations
The changes are designed to reduce reliance on general taxation. The UK government confirms that no profit is made from passport application fees.
⏳ Application Advice
These revised fees apply to both new passport applications and renewals. Applicants are strongly encouraged to:
Apply early, especially if travelling soon
Allow up to 3 weeks for processing if applying from within the UK
These revised fees apply to both new passport applications and renewals. Applicants are advised to apply well in advance of their travel date, as passports are typically issued within 3 weeks for applications made from within the UK.
