VFS Australian Visa Centre in Thailand: Locations and Appointments

Looking for a VFS Australia centre in Thailand? VFS Global operates Australian Biometric Collection Centres in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket. These centres support applicants who need to attend an appointment as part of their Australian visa application.

Most Australian visa applications are submitted online through ImmiAccount. Whether you also need to visit VFS depends on the instructions issued by the Australian Department of Home Affairs.

What does VFS Global do for Australian visa applicants?

VFS Global provides services on behalf of the Australian Department of Home Affairs, including biometric collection and certain application support services.

The Department of Home Affairs assesses your application and decides whether to grant a visa. VFS staff cannot guarantee an approval or change the immigration requirements that apply to you.

Optional services offered during booking are separate from the assessment of your visa application. Choose them according to your needs; purchasing an extra service does not guarantee a successful visa outcome.

Do you need to attend a VFS appointment?

Read your Requirement to provide personal identifiers (biometrics) letter before making travel arrangements. It explains what you must provide and the deadline for doing so.

Check whether you can use the Australian Immi App

Thailand is an eligible location for the Australian Immi App. Applicants with a valid passport and a biometrics request letter containing a Visa Lodgement Number beginning with AUI may be able to complete their identity check using the app.

You will need a compatible smartphone and must follow the app’s instructions to submit your passport information and a live facial image. After successful submission, you do not need to attend a biometric collection centre unless Home Affairs asks you to.

If your Visa Lodgement Number does not begin with AUI, you must attend an Australian Biometric Collection Centre. If you cannot complete the app process, follow the centre attendance instructions in your request letter.

Check the official Australian Immi App guidance before booking.

How to book a VFS Australia appointment

  1. Read your request letter. Check whether centre attendance is required and note your deadline.
  2. Visit the official VFS website. Make sure you are using the Australia service for applicants in Thailand.
  3. Select your centre and appointment. Follow the booking instructions and enter the application details requested.
  4. Save your confirmation. Check your name, centre address, appointment time and document instructions.
  5. Plan your journey. Allow enough time to reach the correct building and follow the arrival instructions.

Visit the official VFS Australia Thailand website to book or manage an appointment.

What should you bring?

Follow the checklist in your booking confirmation. For a biometric appointment, prepare:

  • Your current passport.
  • Your biometrics request letter from Home Affairs.
  • Your VFS appointment confirmation.
  • Any additional documents or payment arrangements specified by the centre.

Check that the personal details on your request letter match your identity documents. If you are arranging an appointment for a child or need accessibility assistance, check the centre’s instructions before attending.

VFS fees and appointment changes

Check the current VFS service charges during booking. These charges are separate from the Australian government’s visa application charge. Review any optional services before paying.

If you need to change your appointment, use the official booking system and check the available dates against the deadline in your Home Affairs letter.

If you cannot meet that deadline, contact Home Affairs promptly using the instructions provided with your application. Rescheduling a VFS appointment does not automatically extend a Home Affairs deadline.

What happens after your appointment?

Continue checking your ImmiAccount and email for requests or updates from Home Affairs. Completing biometrics is one step in the application process; it does not mean your visa has been approved.

Respond to any further requests within the time allowed and keep copies of your appointment confirmation and relevant correspondence.
