You normally start a UK visa application from Thailand online through GOV.UK. If your application requires an appointment, you then follow the instructions to book at a visa application centre operated by VFS Global.
The online application and the appointment are separate steps. Choose the correct visa route before paying fees or arranging your visit.
Need help applying from Thailand?
Thai Visa Express can help you prepare the application, organise supporting evidence and understand the appointment instructions.
Ask us on WhatsAppWhere do you start the application?
Start with the official GOV.UK application guidance. The correct route depends on your purpose, such as visiting, joining a partner, studying or working.
Prepare your information and documents before submitting. Check names, passport details, travel history and previous visa decisions carefully.
Where are UK visa appointments in Thailand?
VFS Global provides UK visa application services in Thailand. Bangkok is an appointment location, and a paid Premium Application Centre option is available in Pattaya.
Check the current VFS Global centre information for available locations, addresses, opening hours and any additional charges.
Use the address on your appointment confirmation. Older articles may show a previous location, and different countries’ visa services may operate from different buildings.
Can you apply in Pattaya?
The Pattaya Premium Application Centre offers a local appointment option, subject to availability and an additional service charge.
Check the booking system for the current price and available dates. Choosing a premium centre does not improve your chances of approval.
What does VFS Global do?
VFS Global handles administrative services associated with the appointment and application process. UK Visas and Immigration decides the visa application.
A premium lounge, document assistance or another paid service is not a guarantee of a successful application.
How does the application process work?
- Choose the visa route. Check eligibility and the evidence required.
- Prepare your documents. Include suitable translations where needed.
- Apply online. Complete the official application and pay the required charges.
- Follow the identity instructions. Book and attend an appointment if directed.
- Submit supporting evidence. Follow the upload instructions and applicable deadlines.
- Check the decision. Follow the instructions for accessing your status and travelling if approved.
What should you take to the appointment?
Follow your appointment confirmation and application checklist. These explain the required identity documents, confirmations and any documents you must bring.
Before travelling, check:
- The exact centre address and appointment time.
- Which original identity documents are required.
- Whether your supporting documents have been uploaded successfully.
- Any instructions for children or accompanying adults.
- Restrictions on bags, electronic devices and access to the centre.
Do not assume you can attend without an appointment. Only use a walk-in service if VFS currently offers it for your application and you have confirmed the conditions.
Will the centre keep your passport?
Passport handling depends on the application and current process. Follow the instructions issued for your appointment rather than relying on older guidance.

UK eVisas and your decision
Where your permission is issued digitally, follow the decision instructions to access your eVisa and check the passport linked to your UKVI account.
An appointment confirmation is not permission to travel. Check the outcome and your immigration status before making final arrangements.
Read our UK eVisa guide for further information.
Help choosing the correct visa
The appointment location does not determine which visa you need. Your purpose and circumstances determine the application route.
